The Ultimate Baratza Encore ESP Grinder Review: Is it Worth the Investment?
The Baratza Encore grinder has been a high performing, and best selling coffee grinder for years now, but what is new and upgraded with the Baratza Encore ESP? Is it worth the investment? Let's find out...
Overview:
The Baratza Encore ESP is a brand new grinder on the market. Its predecessor was the Baratza Encore, a grinder known for its reliability and ease of use, but geared towards drip, or filter methods of brewing. The Encore ESP took the bones of the Encore and gave it new burrs, more espresso grind sizes, and a dosing accessory. This grinder is definitely for all methods of brewing, while having a focus on espresso.
The Upgrades:
One of the standout improvements of the Baratza Encore ESP is its ability to produce range of espresso grind sizes! The Encore ESP comes with 40 grind sizes total, 1-20 is specifically for espresso, and 21-40 is for other brewing methods including Aeropress, pour-over, french press, and cold brew.
You are able to get the consistent espresso grind sizes because of the upgraded M2 burrs. These burrs have razor sharp edges, producing a consistent grind, reducing static, and the ability for more micro adjustments.
To further make static disappear the Encore ESP is equipped with an upgraded DC motor that slowly turns, reducing heat on the beans which contributes to the static you often see. This also gives it a quieter operation, so you don't have to worry about waking up the household when making your morning cup of joe.
To make espresso dosing easy Baratza has included a dosing cup compatible with 54mm portafilters and 58mm portafilters, along with their standard grinds container.
