About Us
In 1996, I started our little company part time out of a garage in North Burlington, Ontario. Since then, we have grown from one employee with one truck to over 50 team members serving all of Canada in retail, ecommerce, distribution and coffee service. We have won every major award in our industry and as of October 2024 have served over 8 million Canadian customers.
From the beginning I have been about customer service and transparency. We are not perfect, but we strive everyday and work hard to provide the best coffee and espresso gear at a fair price to all of our customers. And we listen.
We recognized a need for a specialty coffee store, so we built the first one in Canada. We saw an opportunity to sell online, so we started doing so back in 2001. We have built our own brands when we could not find the products easily in Canada. And most recently we have invested in building out Canada’s most state of the art service centre. From this, we are now the warranty centre for brands including Breville, Delonghi, Philips, Moccamaster and more.
When you buy from us, you can come try out the machines first, you can taste the coffee, buy the coffee and if you ever need service or an upgrade we are there for you. And as the owner, I don’t hide behind my team, but am there to talk to in person, by phone or by email if need be.

Family owned and operated, our company has come a long way!
1996 | ECS VENDING
It began in a garage in Burlington Ontario.
With a full time job and a baby at home, Neil Madden started a vending machine business out of his garage part time in 1996. After work, he would go out to fill his vending machines everyday.
2000 | TIME FOR COFFEE
Adding in Coffee Services.
In 2000 after quitting his job, Neil added coffee services to the business, hired our first employee who still works with us today. We also created the first online coffee catalogue in Canada.
2008 | THE BIG CHANGE
E Commerce & Retail
In 2007 we started selling online, and in 2008 we opened to the public, incorporated and acquired a coffee service business. This began the shift to multiple channels of business for ECS Coffee.
2012 | GROWING IN RETAIL
Taking Over Coffee Retail
As our Coffee retail an e-commerce business grew added four locations in one year and over 70 employees. We were recognized as one of Canada's Fastest growing companies by PROFIT magazine in 2013, and again in 2014.
With the popularity of single serve coffee, we became known as THE store for Keurig K-Cups and Tassimo. Our customers loved our Mix & Match K-Cup boxes (which is still offered at our retail stores today!), and ECS Coffee was described as being a candy store for coffee lovers.
2018 | BACK TO COFFEE
Refocusing our Business
We acquired a distribution business, refocussed on our core coffee business and added in an in house service centre for retail and commercial coffee equipment. We reimagined our retail business and realigned with a new distribution centre.
We expanded our coffee catalogue to not only focus on the coffee, but on everything you would need to create an amazing and enjoyable coffee experience - from espresso machines & specialty beans to single serve coffee makers and k-cups®.
